JIOS Aerogel has secured new investment from Owens Corning to fund the launch of its plant in Singapore, catering to the growing demand for its technology in electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

This funding will enable JIOS Aerogel to set up its first fully automated production lines for Thermal Blades®. The company is expanding its manufacturing capabilities to meet the needs of automakers in Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific who require ultra-thin, compressible insulation for EV battery cells.

JIOS Aerogel’s latest innovation has resulted in a series of aerogel-based products for pouch and prismatic lithium-ion batteries. These products harness the exceptional qualities of aerogels to provide thermal protection for battery cells, improving their safety.

JIOS Aerogel has selected Singapore as the site for its first automotive component manufacturing facility, which is backed by its Innovation Centre that opened in 2020. The plant will utilize JIOS’ innovative, automated production process, developed with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). The company’s fully automated line is expected to reach full capacity in the fourth quarter of 2023.
